Girls start fantasizing about their weddings at a young age. They wish for something extravagant and unique. Well, Susana Zamos may have just trumped every girl’s fantasy wedding with her wedding in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. That’s right, we said sea.
Her wedding was literally in water, and it was gorgeous! It wasn’t easy and it took a lot of planning, but as you can see from the photos below, it was well worth it. Now, this is the type of wedding us single gals can only hope to have anything close to in the future. It looked like something straight out of a romance movie!
A wedding on the beach? What’s new? How about getting married in the actual water? Now that’s something new and unheard of.
Well that’s what groom Jovany and bride Susana Zamos did! They had their wedding in the middle of the Caribbean Sea in Cozumel, Mexico.
And it wasn’t an intimate small wedding. Nope, the water didn’t stop their 100 friends and family from attending.
Was the ceremony difficult to pull off? Of course, it was, but it was going to take more than a few bumps in the road to stop these two from having one of the most unique ceremonies ever.
“We had a wedding planner who told us: ‘you can’t get married in the ocean, it’s much too complicated,’” Zamos recalled.
“So we thought, ok, we’ll get married on the beach like everyone else.”
But before they could start planning a typical beach wedding, their photographer, Sol Tamargo, convinced them otherwise.
“She told us ‘you HAVE to do it! You have to get married in the water, it will be AMAZING!’ This entire vision all came about because of Sol… she’s the one who turned the dream into a reality!”
They got their guests out to the El Cielo sandbar by using two boats and a catamaran.
In order for the photographer to make this work, she had to do a lot of rigorous planning beforehand in order to get the proper equipment.
“We [the Del Sol team] were flying a drone from a moving boat, I was shooting with 2 large underwater housings, it was technically was very challenging as I couldn’t really see,” said Tamargo.
All the planning, nonetheless, filled Tamargo with excitement. She had never shot anything like this before.
“I was shooting from the boat, then I jumped into the water wearing a snorkel, mask and wetsuit and mermaid cap in the middle of a wedding!” Tamargo exclaimed
“When do you ever get to do something like that?!”
The photos she took were from both above and below the water. There were also beautiful photos of the bride floating down the “aisle.”
She wore a gorgeous peach dress paired with a regal seashell crown (no need for a veil in the ocean).
The wedding reflected how close Zamos really is to the ocean. She claims she has always loved the water.
“I’m a scuba diver and was fortunate enough to grow up with a pool in the backyard and the sea not far away.”
“My happiest days were always in the water.” Now, she has can add the happiest day ever to that list.
